A free national daily news service has been launched today, produced by the South Australian-based company that owns InDaily.
The New Daily will deliver comprehensive general and breaking news, as well as sport, entertainment and consumer friendly finance and business news across all digital platforms.
The New Daily is owned by three equal shareholders – AustralianSuper, Cbus and Industry Super Holdings. Motion Publishing, a subsidiary of Solstice Media, which owns InDaily, has been contracted to publish The New Daily.
Editorial content is overseen by former Age and Herald Sun editor Bruce Guthrie, and the new site’s editor is Daniel Sankey, most recently editor of theage.com.au.
“Since the arrival of the digital age, I’ve believed there’s room for more voices in Australian media,” Guthrie said.
“The New Daily is now one of those voices. We will aim to inform, entertain and advise with a compelling mix of news, features, videos and stunning images.
“By offering a new take on the news, it’s my hope that The New Daily will quickly become part of the Australian media landscape, and a source that people will want to go to every day.”
To safeguard the credibility, fairness and editorial independence of The New Daily, the board has adopted a charter of editorial independence.
InDaily will continue to offer an independent media alternative for South Australians from a growing position of corporate strength.
