Radio ratings: Mix the new breakfast leaders

Mix102.3 has overtaken ABC891 as the leading breakfast station in the latest Adelaide radio ratings.

The GfK ratings for survey six show the ABC’s Matt Abraham and David Bevan lost the breakfast crown for the first time this year, with the Mix duo of Jodie Oddy and Mark Soderstrom surging to take the lead.

Abraham and Bevan have had a tough couple of surveys, but remain ahead of talk rivals FIVEaa in the key breakfast shift.

From a high of 18.4 per cent in June, the 891 pair have slipped in successive surveys to hit 13.5 per cent. FIVEaa also lost share to fall to 13.2.

Mix’s breakfast show put on a strong increase of 1.7 percentage points.

hit107 and Radio National were the other improvers in breakfast, with RN’s Fran Kelly perhaps cannibalising some of Abraham and Bevan’s audience.

Southern Cross Austereo will be breathing a sigh of relief that, after a tough 12 months, its rebrand of SAFM to hit107 is starting to work.

The FM music station continued to recover, increasing its share in shifts including breakfast, mornings, afternoons and drive.

Mix maintained its dominant position as the number one Adelaide station, with FIVEaa continuing in the number two position despite losing share.

Nova dropped from equal second to third, with hit107 starting to offer a serious challenge.

ABC 891 dropped one spot to fourth despite maintaining its overall share of listeners.

hit107 climbed to sixth position at the expense of Southern Cross Austereo stablemate Triple M which lost share in its two most important shifts – breakfast and drive.
