Adelaide Oval drops beer, food prices due to COVID-19
Adelaide Oval has lowered the cost of beer, pies and burgers until the end of the 2021 football season, as part of attracting fans back to the stadium in a pandemic-hit economy.
The new prices will take effect from Monday night’s Adelaide-St Kilda clash, and will remain for the cricket season and next year’s AFL season.
A pint of full-strength Hahn Super Dry has been cut by $1.10 and now costs $8.50, down from $9.60.
A glass of house wine has dropped from $8.80 to $7.50, saving $1.30, while a 600ml bottle of water or soft drink is now 60 cents cheaper and coffee has dropped by 10 cents to $4.50.
A pie is now $1.30 cheaper at $4.50, while hot chips are down 40 cents to $5.50 and a beef burger is $1.40 cheaper at $8.50.
Adelaide Oval CEO Andrew Daniels said the price cuts were recognition that “almost every South Australian family has faced economic pain as a result of the COVID-19 situation”.
“By doing so, we are taking a financial hit. It means Adelaide Oval’s own economic recovery – and that of local football and cricket – will take longer after being completely shut down during the height of the crisis,” he said.
“But fans are absolutely central to that. We want them to come flooding back to the games and events they love and we think our new pricing will make it easier for them to do so.
“We also recognise the important role Adelaide Oval plays in the vibrancy of the city and we want to do our bit in helping South Australia’s ongoing recovery.”
