State’s new legal watchdog named
A lawyer who has worked both in private practice and the Crown Solicitor’s Office has been appointed South Australia’s new Legal Profession Conduct Commissioner.
Attorney-General Kyam Maher today named Anthony Keane as the replacement for outgoing Commissioner Greg May, who steps down next week after eight years in the role.
Maher said Keane was a “well-respected member of the profession, who has worked in both private practice and in the public sector at the Crown Solicitor’s Office”.

“Through his work as a Solicitor and Senior Solicitor within the Civil Litigation Section, then as Counsel within the Crown Counsel Section, he has demonstrated his skill and experience in understanding and analysing issues across a broad range of practice areas,” he said.
Maher paid tribute to May for his achievements during his tenure.
“As South Australia’s first Legal Profession Conduct Commissioner, he has played a vital part in bringing greater levels of accountability to the legal profession,” he said.
