Man critical after Festival Plaza balcony plunge

A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition after police say he jumped from a Festival Plaza balcony while being questioned overnight.

Police said on Tuesday morning that officers approached the man at the Festival Plaza at about 2.15am as part of an investigation into a nearby theft.

Police said that after speaking to officers for several minutes, the man ran off and jumped off the balcony, falling several metres onto the ground below.

Officers provided first aid and the Gepps Cross man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
