Located in Rostrevor, this modern home has been designed to take full advantage of the vineyard, city and ocean views.
When business owners Ben and Loretta Anastassi moved to Adelaide, they initially planned to buy in the Hills.
But when they discovered 3 Heyes Court, Rostrevor, it had the sense of space and privacy they were looking for while also being close to the city and other amenities.
“Behind us, we have a vineyard, and from the front of the house, we look over the city to the ocean,” says Ben.
“So, it has country, city and ocean views all in the one property, and the tranquillity of being in your own escape.”
Ben and Loretta decided to make a bid on the house and have been living there for almost three years with their two dogs, Ollie and Charlie.
On a block of 1444 square metres, the home has four bedrooms, with the potential to transform a home office into a fifth bedroom. There are two bathrooms and off-street parking for four vehicles.
The property includes an open-plan living and dining area and an outdoor entertaining area, while the master suite features an ensuite and a spacious walk-in wardrobe.
The couple say they were drawn to the high energy efficiency of the house, with its insulated concrete slabs, heated flooring, and double-glazed windows with hardwood timber frames.
But despite loving the existing home, Ben and Loretta enlisted boutique home builder TGB Homes to build a modern addition.
Ben says a priority was to have a seamless transition between the existing home and their additions.
“We matched everything in the extension from the outside render to the inside finishes, but we took it to the next level,” says Ben.
Among the other must-haves were an outdoor mineral pool, spa and a master suite, which Ben and Loretta have turned into an “internal sanctuary”.
Outdoors, Ben and Loretta have put in new plantings such as fruit trees, which attract kookaburras, magpies and other wildlife.
“We have so many amazing birds,” says Loretta.
“We have some cows that come down because the back of our property is a vineyard and leads onto Morialta National Park,” adds Ben.
Loretta says her favourite part of the house is the spa.
“You can sit in the spa and see the shooting stars,” she says.
Ben says he likes the master bedroom, with its panoramic views of the ocean.
“I can see container and cruise ships out in the ocean,” he says.
Although Ben and Loretta are in two minds about selling, they have recently become grandparents and have decided to move interstate to be closer to their grandchild.
Loretta says she will miss the views, tranquillity, nature and sunsets the most.
Ben says he will also miss the sunsets, as well as the area’s country feel, while still being close to the city.
“When you think about it, all of that and we can walk to the shops or drive 17 minutes into the city – that’s why I say it’s pretty unique,” he says.
“We never did this extension with any view of selling. We’ve done everything to create an oasis that you can just come back to unwind, relax and regenerate.”
The sale of 3 Heyes Court, Rostrevor, is being handled by Alexander and Hayley Parzis of Toop + Toop.
